Maci Bookout Planning To Take Custody Of Son Away From Junkie Ryan Edwards

Maci Bookout will do anything to help her baby daddy beat his drug addiction, even if it means threatening to take away custody of their son. In a Teen Mom OG sneak peek, Bookout is advised to give Ryan Edwards an ultimatum.

In the clip, Bookout calls a counselor to get advice on helping Edwards.

“He is my oldest son’s father,” she said. “I’m not sure what he’s using. But sometimes he’ll fall asleep when you’re trying to have a conversation with him or is extremely wide-eyed. He doesn’t look right.”

When Bookout explained how she has never confronted him about his behavior, the counselor advised her to threaten to take legal action to protect their son Bentley.

“Yeah, I’m hoping it doesn’t get to that point but that would be the ultimatum,” she said. “The other aspect is if I’m limiting access to him, I’m also going to have to do that with his parents because they are the sole caregivers of his son when he’s with his dad.”

Her counselor explained how the process could be an “uphill battle,” as it seems his family is “enabling” his addiction.

In previous episodes, Bookout opened up about his addiction after years of rumors.

“I’m going to be like, you have to go to rehab,” she told her husband Taylor McKinney. “Right now it’s about saving his life. Most nights I’m crying in our bed talking to you about whether or not today is the day he’s going to die.”

E! News broke the report earlier this month that Edwards has been in rehab for two weeks and is “doing well.”

Edwards’ ex-girlfriend Dalis Connell, who appeared on episodes of Teen Mom during their relationship, revealed that he entered outpatient rehab in December 2012 for his addiction to Roxycodone for one week before relapsing.

“He wasn’t interested in rehab,” she said. “We had to drag him there the first time. He never said he wanted to get better, he just wanted the withdrawals to stop.”
