Liz Smith Dies At Age 94
Legendary gossip columnist Liz Smith has passed away. The media icon died peacefully of natural causes this Sunday in her New York City home.
Smith was one of the most renowned columnists in the country. For decades she was known as the queen of gossip and held a readership of about 50 million people a day.
At the peak of her career, Liz Smith was earning about $1 million a year.
She began writing her beloved column in 1976 for the New York Daily News. She then switched to New York Newsday and later to the New York Post, where she remained until she was suddenly fired at age 86.

The columnist was married twice and had no children. She leaves no immediate survivors.
