Caitlyn Jenner's Girlfriend Sophia Recalls Hell Before Transition: 'I Felt Trapped!'

Blonde stunner Sophia Hutchins became a model overnight and an icon for LGBTQ youth following her early transition. Now, she is living with athlete-turned-reality-star Caitlyn Jenner and opening up about her childhood struggles and long battle with gender identity.

During a talk on Jim Breslo's Hidden Truth show, Hutchins, 22, said she first told her parents about her gender dysphoria at age 5.

"I remember telling my parents… 'I don't know why I have a penis!' And they said 'Oh, okay, well that's interesting,' and kind of swept it under the rug. That was my first memory of ever bringing up gender dysphoria to them," said Hutchins.

After that realization, she always felt wrong inside her male body.

In high school, Hutchins said, she was in a long-term relationship with a man, and told him all about her gender struggles.

The guy "was a few years older than me — not 45 years older than me like Caitlyn, but a few years older than me and I remember telling him, you know, 'I need to do something because this isn't right. You know, I just feel really dysphoric in this body,'" recalled Hutchins.

Then, unable to take it any longer, she decided to start her transition as a young teen at Pepperdine University.

"I truly feel my spirit, my soul, my mind is exactly the same, I am just so much more comfortable physically," she said of her new body.

"Before I transitioned I felt like 'Yeah, I'm definitely just a girl, but I'm in the wrong body.' And I felt trapped in that body. And I needed to have the hormones to change the body, for me, the surgeries to change the body," continued the beauty, explaining that transitioning is different for everyone, and not every person needs surgery and hormones to feel like a woman. "But for me, that's what I wanted to do, and that's what made me ultimately so at peace," she explained.

Hutchins — who has refused to label her relationship with Jenner, 68, as "romantic" — said that a "transgender" person to her is to me is someone who was born of either male or female sex and "wants to change the way the world perceives their sex."

While it's not the same for everyone, she truly believes she was meant to be a woman and has always felt she was "born with female spirit."

"Society really defines male and female. Society defines masculine and feminine. And by society's definition, I always felt feminine, I always felt female," she said in her tell-all interview. "Physically, I was not female at birth, because the doctor said 'Oh, it's a boy! He's got a penis!' And that's kind of an unfortunate way to define sex or gender. I think it's so much more complex than that."
