Real Housewives of Beverly Hills casting drama has hit a fever pitch, RadarOnline.com has learned. Insiders say that after pop star Cody Simpson's mom, Angie, formally turned down an offer to join the cast, producers were scrambling for a replacement, forcing them to re-hire series alum Taylor Armstrong.

The Australian singer's mom, Angie Simpson "was being pursued to join the show," an insider explained. "She came very close to signing a contract, but ultimately decided not to. Producers were left in the lurch because they were confident that Angie would be on board."

With filming already underway, a formal offer was made at the last minute to Taylor Armstrong. "She was moving back to Southern California from Colorado with new husband, John Bluher, and so it worked out. She definitely wasn't a first choice, or even third," a source told Radar.

Meanwhile, rehab vet Kim Richards has been fired from the show.

However, "delusional Kim believes she is going to be asked back by Bravo. According to Kim, there are also multiple acting gigs lined up, but she offers no details on what those jobs are," the source added.
