Bill Cosby will stand trial for three counts of aggravated indecent assault, a Pennsylvania judge has ruled.

Cosby was in court today attempting to have the case thrown out, because his lawyers claimed that the evidence presented at the preliminary hearing — largely testimony from police officers about what alleged victim Andrea Constand told them — was insufficient.

"You have to have some meaningful opportunity to ask questions of the witness whose statement is really the basis of the prosecution," Cosby attorney Christopher Tayback said.

Judge Stephen T. O'Neill disagreed, and will not force Constand to take the stand just yet.

It's a major victory for DA Kevin Steele, who said during today's hearing that "we are not going to retraumatize" Constand by dragging her in front of Cosby's attorneys.

The charges stem from allegations from from former Temple University employee Constand that Cosby drugged and assaulted her in 2004 at his Cheltenham, Pennsylvania home.
