A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with the alleged fatal stabbing of another teenager at a Washington, D.C. McDonald's after a fight broke out over sweet and sour sauce, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Around 2 a.m. on Aug. 27, the Metropolitan D.C. Police Department responded to a local hospital after receiving a call about a juvenile with stab wounds, as Front Page Detectives reported.
The victim, identified as 16-year-old Naima Liggon, died at the hospital from her injuries. Officials said she was reportedly driven to the hospital in a private vehicle and not an ambulance.
An investigation was launched and detectives determined Liggon was stabbed outside a McDonald’s restaurant. They located the suspect and said she was “found to be in possession of a knife."
Liggon and the suspect then reportedly exited the car, and the suspect allegedly stabbed Liggon in the abdomen and chest, officials said.
At a hearing in juvenile court, the suspect’s attorney reportedly argued the girl stabbed Liggon in self-defense, claiming Liggon and another teen beat her up, WTOP reported.
The suspect was booked into the D.C. Youth Services Center and charged with second-degree murder while armed, assault with intent to kill while armed, aggravated assault while armed, felony assault, possession of a prohibited weapon, and carrying a dangerous weapon, according to authorities.
She is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 1 for her detention status hearing, officials said.

The victim's family told WUSA-TV in a statement: “Naima was a beautiful, smart, funny, and unique young lady who loved life…The impact of this senseless loss has affected our family, our friends, and our community.”
The family urged others to “love on your kids” and to “make sure they know they are loved when they walk out your door. Because you never know if that may be the last time you see them."
