A Maryland teacher vanished while taking her evening walk in a local park, one week before a Maryland hiker mom of five disappeared, RadarOnline.com has learned.
On Aug. 6, Rachel Morin, 37, was found dead just off a popular hiking trail in Bel Air, as Front Page Detectives reported.
Police said they have launched a homicide investigation, although they have not yet said how Morin died.
Mariame Toure Sylla, 59, is a second grade teacher in Greenbelt, a suburb about 55 miles from Bel Air. On July 29, one week before Morin’s body was found, Sylla went out for a walk in a nearby park around 8 p.m. and she has not been found, according to NewsNation.
Sylla took a walk almost every day in Schrom Hills Park, usually lasting for 30 to 45 minutes, NewsNation reported.
Investigators, with the help of community members, have been searching the area and following up on “all leads that have come to us,” Greenbelt Police Chief Richard Bowers said.
Bowers added, “We keep all of our possibilities open as to the cause of her disappearance.”
Students and parents went door-to-door last week asking people for clues, NewsNation reported.
Officials said all of Sylla’s belongings and medications were found in her home.
Friends say she is a devout Muslim who never misses daily prayers.

While it isn’t clear who reported Sylla missing, Morin was reported missing by her boyfriend. He also told police where to find her car and then posted on social media that he loved her and he wasn’t responsible for her death, authorities said.
Police have not named a suspect in her murder.
