At the scene, officers discovered Matthew Davis, 32, shot in the Sonic parking lot. He was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his gunshot injuries.

Investigators determined Davis had been working at the Sonic when Angel Gomez, 20, and several other people arrived in Gomez’s vehicle.

Gomez and the juvenile both fled following the shooting.

Gomez was arrested when he returned to the Sonic, and the juvenile was taken into custody at a separate location, according to police.

Both Gomez and the 12-year-old boy each face a murder charge in connection with the case.

"It is a sad day in our community," Keene Mayor Lisa Parrish said about the deadly incident. "Time for us to come together and be respectful of each other. This is a stressful situation for the staff that worked at Sonic and knew Matthew, his family and our first responders who were on the scene.”
