Shocking body camera footage reveals a gripping encounter as a suspect unexpectedly opens fire on sheriff's deputies who were executing a warrant at an Indiana motel, RadarOnline.com has learned.
On the morning of May 16, deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department were attempting to serve warrants on Brooke Badger and Jon Niccum at a Motel 6 in Anderson, as Front Page Detectives reported.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has released body cam footage from that morning, which shows officers approaching the room of Badger and Niccum. They knock and say, “front desk.”
Badger then opens the door and steps out into the hallway.
One of the deputies walks into the motel bedroom, sees Niccum in the bed and demands he show his hands.
Niccum can be heard saying, “What’s the problem?” The officer never announced he was law enforcement, but tells the man to show his hands again as he shines his flashlight in Niccum’s face.

Niccum then pulls out a gun and fires at the deputy.
The officer returned fire and then quickly backed out of the room and into the hallway, shouting “shots fired” on his radio.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, a SWAT team arrived at the motel and found Niccum dead in the bathroom with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
During the chaos, Badger ran from the motel and officials are asking the public to help find her. She is wanted on two felony warrants for violation of work release and violation of a suspended sentence, officials said.
A second man was in the room and he jumped from the window, officials said. He has not been identified and officials didn’t mention if he would be charged with anything.
No officers were injured during the incident. The deputy who fired his gun is on paid administrative leave while the incident is under investigation.
