He was acquitted of other attempted murder charges related to other shootings that took place in the area, officials said. When those shootings occurred, Rauda became known as the “Malibu Sniper.”

As investigators looked into Beaudette’s killing, they uncovered several other shootings at or near Malibu Creek State Park between 2016 and 2017, KCAL-TV reported.

Prosecutors said Rauda terrorized the area starting in November 2016, when he wounded a man who was sleeping in a hammock in the Malibu State Park area. About a week later, Rauda allegedly fired into the sleeping area of a vehicle.
