King Charles III and Prince Andrew have been battling over the latter’s grand home Royal Lodge since the monarch came to the throne in September 2022. As the battle royale gets "nasty" and "vindictive" from both parties, Kate, Princess of Wales was recently cited as a perfect candidate to take over the lavish estate if the Duke of York is evicted.

"It's a bit of a standoff at the moment," veteran royal expert Michael Cole told GBN. "Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales would fit into Royal Lodge very happily with their three children."

"The King has been trying to persuade his younger brother to move out of Royal Lodge into Frogmore Cottage," he added. "Prince Andrew is sticking fast. He is pointing out that he has a long lease and it’s a repairing lease. He’s responsible for the repairs, of which many are being made."

In pointing out how William and Kate deserve the estate since both are the next King and Queen, Cole continued: "They are making do in Adelaide Cottage, which is not a particularly grand building, in Windsor Park. Adelaide Cottage may have echoes of sunny Australia, but it is not a nice place in January or February."

But the heir and his future consort are not the only senior royals in the running to step into the home, which reportedly needs substantial repairs.

Sarah Ferguson 'basically confirmed' the long-running Royal Lodge feud.

"Sophie and Edward are serious contenders to take this project on and do an excellent job," an insider dished. "They’ve completely thrown a spanner into an already difficult situation, which is why Charles has had to come clean on his somewhat unpopular plan to house Camilla. Needless to say, all h---’s broken loose and if it’s not sorted out soon, there is a push for William to step in and take back the Lodge, just to settle what’s becoming a very uncomfortable fraternal war."

This comes after Sarah Ferguson all but confirmed the long-running Charles and Andrew rift with Good Morning Britain host Martin Lewis in June when he kept asking the ex-royal about the quarrel. "I tend not to get involved in brothers' discussions, and I think that's the safest place to be," Ferguson pointedly told the broadcaster when asked about the squabble. "Let the brothers discuss it between themselves."
