A Tennessee man was taken into custody after he allegedly stabbed another man in an alley in Indiana — who turned out to be the wrong target, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Around 9:30 p.m. on July 18, dispatchers at the Howard County Sheriff's Officer received a 911 call regarding a victim with a stab wound to the neck in Greentown, according to Front Page Detectives.

The caller reportedly told the dispatcher that the suspect was a male wearing a red and black hoodie, and officers started searching for the man.

Cummins told police he was on his bicycle in the alley when the suspect approached him and “pepper sprayed him in the face,” officials said.

The two men then got into a physical altercation, and Cummins said he believes he hit the suspect “at least once in self-defense.” During the fight, the suspect allegedly stabbed Cummins in the neck and “stated he was going to kill him,” police said.

Cummins fell to the ground and the suspect asked him his name. Cummins told him and the suspect reportedly said, “Wrong guy.” He then fled the scene, officials said.

Cummins and the suspect never met before and police sent out the suspect’s description to hospitals in the area.

About an hour later, an officer working at the Community Howard Regional Health Center called to report a man matching the description showed up in the emergency room.

Officials went to the hospital and found the suspect, 20-year-old Justin Crow, who is originally from Jonesboro, Tennessee. Even though Crow changed clothes, witnesses reportedly positively identified him.

A search warrant was executed at a home where Crow was reportedly staying and officers said they found a “collection of evidence relating to the crime.”

When speaking with police, Crow’s report of the incident allegedly “changed multiple times" and Crow said Cummins “called him a name and that it ‘triggered him,’” police said.

Crow then admitted to stabbing Cummins with a box knife and threatened to kill him because he was “just done with people,” officers said.

Crow was arrested and booked into the Howard County Jail. He was charged with attempted murder and is being held without bond.
