An Indiana man left a voicemail to his mom but forgot to hang up and accidentally recorded himself killing her boyfriend.

A man in Indiana will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars after he accidentally recorded the murder of his mother’s boyfriend in a voicemail, RadarOnline.com has learned.

On June 18, 2020, Cody Allen Wade, 33, left a cookout and headed to his mom’s house in Brazil, Indiana, as Front Page Detectives reported.

Wade left a cookout and headed to his mom's house.

On the way, he stopped at another man’s house to tell him he was about to kill someone.

The man tried to talk him out of it, but was unsuccessful.

Once at his mom's house, Wade stabbed the victim four times while his mother tried to stop him.

Wade then walked the several blocks to his mother’s home, where he and his mother lived. On the way, he called his mother and left her a voicemail.

However, Wade never hung up the phone call and ended up recording the entire attack, including him stabbing the victim, Carl Haviland, four times, officials said.

Wade was arrested and now sentenced to 75 years in connection with the murder.

In his sentencing order, the judge wrote, “The defendant repeatedly stabbed Carl Haviland not only in front of the defendant’s own mother but did so in spite of her efforts to physically prevent him from committing the crime,” the New York Post reported.

After stabbing Haviland, Wade kicked and taunted his victim, authorities said.

He was released from jail in March 2020, just two months before the murder took place, officials said.

On Sept. 6, a judge sentenced Wade to 60 years for the murder with an additional 15 years added since he was found to be a habitual offender.

In addition, Wade was given 10 years for two separate counts of felony battery on a public safety official with injury and he was given concurrent sentences for two other charges: felony battery against a public safety official and misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, The Post reported.
