A Florida man has been arrested after he allegedly got into an argument with other football parents at a youth football game and then threatened people with a gun because a parent from the opposing team said their son was “better than his,” RadarOnline.com has learned.
Around 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 30, officers responded to Leesburg High School after receiving multiple calls about a man carrying a gun on campus and threatening people, as Front Page Detectives reported.
The suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Quan Isom, attempted to leave the scene in a pickup truck, but officers arrived in time to stop him in the school’s parking lot, police said.
During the traffic stop, Isom began arguing with police and allegedly threatened to kill the K9 on scene, officials said.
Once the suspect exited his vehicle, he reportedly refused officers orders to get on the ground and was eventually "escorted to the ground and detained,” authorities said.
According to court documents, Isom and his wife attended the youth football game because their young son plays on a Pop Warner football team.
Isom was allegedly arguing with parents from the opposing team when one of the parents “made a remark about their son being better than his and it upset the defendant,” officials said.
Isom allegedly then went to his vehicle and witnesses claimed he retrieved a gun and placed it in his waistband, police said.
Isom's wife told officers she made her husband place the gun under the driver’s seat, and claimed he allegedly was drunk, officials said. Police confirmed they found empty beer bottles and whiskey in the vehicle.
Police also located a revolver that was “ready to fire due to the location of the rounds in the cylinder,” authorities said.

Officials said Isom has 11 prior convictions and is not allowed to own a gun by law.
Isom was arrested and booked into Lake County Jail. He faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a gun on school property, carelessly exhibiting a weapon and resisting without violence. A judge set his bond at $40,000.
