A 16-year-old Colorado boy has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend, RadarOnline.com has learned.
On June 16, police responded to a report of a shooting at a trailer home in Greeley, according to the Weld County District Attorney’s Office. Once at the scene, officers found Lily Silva-Lopez deceased from multiple gunshot wounds, as Front Page Detectives reported.
Officials said the victim’s ex-boyfriend, Jovanni Sirio-Cardona, “approached the home unannounced, forced entry into the trailer through a bedroom window and shot the victim several times.”
Sirio-Cardona allegedly entered the home and Silva-Lopez told her brother to run, according to KUSA-TV.
The brother tried to call 911, but the call didn’t go through. While he was trying to call, Sirio-Cardona allegedly made his way into the home and fatally shot the victim, authorities said.
Sirio-Cardona then reportedly saw the brother and forced him to give up his phone so he couldn’t call 911. Sirio-Cardona then fled the scene with the brother’s phone, KUSA-TV reported.

Police went to the home of Sirio-Cardona and his grandmother answered the door. She asked what was going on, to which Sirio-Cardona “replied by saying he did what he had to do and he shot someone,” according to KUSA-TV.
According to authorities, Sirio-Cardona and the victim dated for about six months, but Silva-Lopez tried to end their relationship four weeks before the fatal shooting took place.
The victim’s mother talked with police and said Sirio-Cardona reportedly placed “the barrel of a gun in Silva-Lopez’s mouth” and “told Silva-Lopez she wasn’t going to break up with him, and she needed to tell him she loved him.”
This wasn’t the first altercation between the former lovers. Police responded to Silva-Lopez’s home on June 10 after Sirio-Cardona allegedly punched her in the face and injured her arm, KUSA-TV reported.
On June 13 and June 14, Sirio-Cardona was reportedly caught on camera walking around the exterior of his ex-girlfriend’s home, officials said.
Sirio-Cardona will be tried as an adult and was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, aggravated robbery and possession of a handgun by a juvenile, officials said.
His bond was set at $2 million and he is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 3.
