An Alabama man avoided the possibility of the death penalty after pleading guilty to killing his wife and unborn son as his three-day murder trial was about to wrap up, RadarOnline.com has learned.
According to the District Attorney for the 19th Circuit CJ Robinson, 26-year-old Hunter Tatum entered the plea of guilty for two counts of murder, as Front Page Detectives reported.
A judge subsequently sentenced him to two terms of 99 years in prison to be served consecutively.
The three-day trial against Tatum for capital murder in connection with the deaths of his wife, Summer, and their son, Everett, was nearing the end, the Montgomery Advertiser reported.
As Front Page Detectives previously reported, Hunter shot Summer on Oct. 18, 2021, at their home in Prattville.
He was facing charges of murder and murder of another person while having the intent of killing someone else, officials said.

Prosecutors argued that Hunter killed Summer after learning she developed an online relationship with a woman in England.
However, his defense team argued that Summer threatened him with a gun and told him, “You don’t deserve to live.”
Security camera footage was captured and played during the trial, which showed Summer pleading, “Please! Please! Please! I’ll stay! I’ll do anything! Don’t kill me!,” the Montgomery Advertiser reported.
Hunter reportedly said “Nope” several times before he shot his wife in the head with a revolver.
Doctors were able to deliver baby Everett via emergency C-section and he survived for about two hours before dying.
While prosecutors were seeking the death penalty against Tatum, Summer’s family approved the plea deal, officials said.
