Unless you're already into juicing, you've probably never thought of drinking fresh red bell peppers. However, since these fruits are almost 100 percent water, they're an easy way to slip sweet flavors into a hydrating beverage. As a bonus, you can serve a simple red pepper seltzer to folks on a non-alcoholic diet.

Just don't forget to add a dropperful of Tribe CBD oil to your bubbly bell pepper seltzer. You won't taste our hemp extract's flavor, but you will notice extra relaxation.

Some people assume there's no significant difference between red, yellow, or green bell peppers (besides aesthetics, of course). After all, each of these cultivars is just a variation on the same fruit, right?

Well, according to recent research, there are significant differences between different bell peppers. From a taste perspective, green bell peppers have more bitter compounds versus the sweeter red, yellow, or orange varieties. Also, green bell peppers tend to have the crispest "crunch" compared with these other bell peppers.

Since green bell peppers aren't super sweet, you might assume they have greater health benefits. Less sweetness means less natural sugars, which should make them the healthier option.

In reality, scientists claim red bell peppers have way more antioxidants than green bell peppers. Get this: One red bell pepper has over 10-times the beta-carotene that's in a similar-sized green bell pepper.

Apparently, as bell peppers age, they produce more beneficial vitamins and minerals. Green bell peppers are always picked early in the season, so they don't have enough time to develop these healthy compounds.

While green bell peppers aren't "bad," they aren't a great substitute when making this mocktail — unless you love bitter drinks. However, you may be able to get away with an orange or yellow bell pepper if there aren't any red bell peppers in your supermarket.

Ingredients

• 1 small red bell pepper, chopped

• 2 - 3 basil leaves, sliced

Bell pepper seeds haven't caught on like pumpkin or sunflower seeds...but does that mean they're unsafe to eat? While most chefs toss bell pepper seeds in the trash, they are 100 percent edible. So, why aren't more people using these seeds in their recipes?

Well, the problem with bell pepper seeds is that they're incredibly bitter. No matter what dish you're preparing, it's likely these seeds will clash with the intended flavors. Plus, it can be a pain if you get these tiny seeds stuck between your teeth!

However, bell pepper seeds won't add additional heat to your recipes like jalapeno seeds. Bell peppers have a Scoville Heat Score of zero, which means they don't contain the spicy compound capsaicin.
