‘It Was a Mistake’: 3-Month-Old Baby Girl Found Dead Off NYC Expressway, Father Accused of Murder

A 3-month-old baby was found dead in a wooded area along a New York City highway, and now police say her parents have been charged with her murder, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Around 10:30 p.m. on May 28, Damion Comager, 23, was arrested after the body of Genevieve Comager was found along the Major Deegan Expressway, Front Page Detectives reported.
Donald Comager, the suspect’s father, said he called police and asked for a wellbeing check on his granddaughter after talking with his son, WCBS-TV reported.
"I think it was an accident. I mean, I still had to say something. I couldn't say nothing," said the grandfather.
Donald Comager said he spoke with his son, who allegedly told him “he shook her” and then “laid her down because she was screaming,” according to WCBS-TV. Damion Comager allegedly then told his father “he went to sleep, then woke up and she was stiff, she was cold.”
The new father reportedly panicked and put his daughter in a bag before dumping her along the highway, just blocks from the transitional housing shelter they were living at, WABC-TV reported.
Police questioned Damion Comager and the baby’s mother, 21-year-old Ivana Paolozzi, during the day on Sunday.
Around 8 p.m. on May 28, Genevieve’s body was found by police.
Damion Comager was charged with murder, manslaughter and concealment of a human corpse, police said.
As he walked out of the police precinct on May 29, Damion Comager said he “loved my daughter and I’m sorry,” WCBS-TV reported.

Paolozzi was also arrested and charged with concealment of a human corpse and obstructing governmental administration, officials said.
The baby’s cause of death was still under investigation and additional testing is required, according to the medical examiner.
