The finish to Saturday’s Iron Bowl game, pitting legendary rivals Auburn and Alabama, is now being called the best, most amazing, most stunning — you pick — play in college football history.
Tied up 28 – 28 with just one second to go, Alabama’s kicker Adam Griffith lined up a 57-yard field goal attempt.
The kick fell short and right into the hands of Auburn’s Chris Davis.
“I knew when I caught the ball I would have room to run,” Davis told the Associated Press.
Run he did, veering and weaving through Alabama defenders, and all the way to the end zone, as fans erupted.
To say the place went nuts is an understatement.
The 34-28 Iron Bowl win send No. 4 ranked Auburn to the SEC Championship game and Chris Davis into the YouTube hall of fame.
