In the wake of the shocking accusations between Larry King and his wife Shawn -- who both filed for divorce Wednesday, with Shawn claiming Larry was having an affair with her sister -- RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that Larry's sister-in-law, Shannon Engemann, would often visit the 76-year-old broadcasting icon while he was at work.

"She visited him numerous times all on her own," a Larry King Live employee told RadarOnline.com exclusively. "And she was always very comfortable around Larry... their relationship seemed very natural."

Our source said it's believed the CNN host bought Shannon a $160,000 luxury car and spent more than $1 million dollars on her. The employees at Larry King Live were accustomed to Shannon's frequent visits to the set and described her as "very, very skinny," "odd," and "out there."
Our source told us that Shawn, Larry’s 50-year-old seventh wife, rarely came to the set.
"Their relationship never seemed real and she barely ever visited him unless she was somehow included in his show," our source said. "Shawn and Shannon fought bitterly over the situation.”

The sisters once almost even ran into one another during one of the visits, an insider told RumorRat.com.
“Shannon was in Larry’s office and everything was fine until Shawn decided to pay a surprise call and walked into the office lobby," the insider told the Web site. "Shannon had to leave through a side door so Shawn wouldn’t see her.”

The run-in could have led to some real sparks, as the sisters are reportedly not on the best of terms.
"They have a love-hate relationship,” a Larry King Live employee told the Web site. “When you see them together, it’s all hugs and kisses, but the truth is Shawn doesn’t trust Shannon one bit.”
King, according to the Web site, has been open about his fondness for his wife's sister: An employee of the show said they've overheard him bragging about certain parts of Shannon's anatomy, and have also heard the CNN stalwart claim that if he'd met Shannon first, he would have married her instead of Shawn.
Wednesday’s events come as little surprise, as both cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of their severance. The CNN host had previously accused his wife of making love to Hector Penate, the baseball coach of one her children.
According to court documents, King is seeking joint custody of the couple's two boys, ages 11 and 9, while Shawn is seeing physical custody.
