Robert Pattinson Smells Like Cologne, Fan Gushes Over Surprise Run-In

Twilight fan Manda (who declined to use her last name), 24, was celebrating a friend’s birthday at Glowbal Grill & Satay Bar in Vancouver on Tuesday night when a young man walked in. “This guy is so skinny!” was her first thought. But Manda told RadarOnline.com that she quickly realized the super-thin stranger was Robert Pattinson, with Twilight soundtrack writer Sam Bradley in tow. “Then he turns around and has the bushy eyebrows,” she said, “and lo and behold, it’s him!”

The birthday girl Manda was having dinner with—who is not a Twilight fan--didn’t recognize the actor, and was more than happy to go ask him to take a picture with the group. Pattinson seemed a little reticent at first, asking, “Really?” But after hearing it was her birthday, he said, “Okay, might as well.” Manda was quick to say that she thinks the British actor’s dislike of pictures is more about him being shy and modest than snobby. “I think the first time he was a little irritated, but then he eased up,” she said. “He doesn’t realize he’s that big.”

Manda, who snuggled up next to Pattinson for the photos, also cleared up the rumors that the on-screen vampire has a little problem with body odor. “If anything, he smelled a little like cologne,” she told us.

One overbearing fan at the hotspot was obviously irritating the young actors, Manda says, standing next to their table and following them outside when they took a smoke break. “We called her Twimom,” jokes Manda, “because she had a little baby with her.” When Manda and her friends left the restaurant, they stopped outside to chat and take one last shot with Pattinson and Bradley, who encouraged them to come to a concert Sam is playing in town this May. Manda took the opportunity to invite them to her birthday party in a few weeks. “Maybe we’ll drop by!” they said.

So what surprised her most about Pattinson? “He was really pale—so I don’t know if he’d just finished filming and hadn’t washed off the makeup.”
