More Bad News! ‘Today’ Execs Eager To Move Megyn Kelly’s Show To Later Hour

With Matt Lauer’s firing and Hoda Kotb’s promotion, the Today show has experienced major changes lately. And Megyn Kelly may be bearing the brunt of the talent upheaval!

Show producers are looking to move Kelly’s ratings-challenged 9 a.m. show back one hour in order to slate Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford in the more attractive time slot, a show insider told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

“No one at NBC thought Matt Lauer being fired could solve an ongoing problem facing the third hour of the show — Megyn Kelly’s terrible ratings — but there is a plan in the works because of the termination,” the source claimed.

“Producers are exploring having Hoda and Kathie Lee air at 9am, with Megyn’s hour moved to 10 am.”

With Kotb now also serving as co-anchor alongside Savannah Guthrie in the early hours, producers believe the show would “flow” much better if she didn’t take an hour off between stints.

However, the source insisted that no scheduling changes can be made without Kelly’s approval.

“It’s part of her contract that the show can’t change time slots without her consent,” the insider explained.

Meanwhile, Gifford isn’t thrilled with the prospect of waking up earlier every morning!

Kathie Lee isn’t happy, because she will have to be at there before 8 a.m.,” the source said.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Kotb is eventually planning to dump her gig with Gifford in order to focus on her role with Guthrie.

“Hoda will keep on hosting with Kathie Lee for the next six months and slowly pull away,” a separate source claimed.
