Since MTV basically invented the opiate of the masses that became reality TV one thing has been a constant — conflict. Regardless of the medium, disagreements lie at the heart of any good drama, so it should surprise no one that there have been so many reality show fights.

MORE: The biggest Real Housewives fights of 2018 revealed!

Exploring reality TV history this list documents the most epic of those battles. These appear in order from the simple — yet defiant — act of pouring wine over someone’s head to a full on brawl that resulted in reality stars sent packing because of their violent ways.

MORE: Don't miss the latest on everything reality TV!

Who’s on the top reality show fights list? You know those meatballs from Jersey Shore will be on here — such as Mike “The Situation Sorrentino and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi — and so will some Real Housewives of New York and Real Housewives of New Jersey. But there are a few that should surprise you as well given that one doesn’t normally think of Dancing with the Stars as a landscape for a duel or even a war of words.

Get ready because the bell has rung, and it is time to answer that burning question: What was the worst reality TV fight? Contestants get in the ring. Ding ding!

The Hills: Lauren Conrad vs. Heidi Montag.

Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag have come a long way. The two were the best of friends when The Hills started shooting. When Spencer Pratt entered the picture and he and Montag started dating the friendship friction caused a major fracture. The ladies’ verbal spat joined the ranks of the top reality show fights during The Hills season three premiere. Pratt (and Montag) started a rumor that Conrad had a sex tape — which was so not true. Watch the video and see how verbally fierce it got. One does not come back from that, so it is easy to see why Montag and Conrad were BFFs turned enemies. Conrad’s best line was “I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you.” Ouch.

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 4: Tyra Banks vs. Tiffany Richardson.

Look, if you are a contestant on America’s Top Model grace should be your first priority. Host Tyra Banks is a fashion legend and everything she offers up is out of love and care for the contestants so they can get a shred of the fame and fortune that she enjoys. That was not the case when it came to Cycle 4 contestant Tiffany Richardson. The normally calm Banks’ patience went into the red and a bomb went off. Be grateful Tiffany for all that Banks has given you. It’s easy to see what happens if you take that for granted. Oh, in the process Banks coined a pop culture phrase that has made the rounds, “Be quiet, Tiffany!”

Omarosa Manigault, the ever-present reality TV villain went on the Donald Trump reality juggernaut Celebrity Apprentice and her wrath was felt by most. The one that makes this list is when she and former CNN anchor Piers Morgan had issues. He attacked her verbally every chance he could and after a certain point even the calmest person breaks — which of course Manigault is not. He said he “feels quite sorry for her” and that she was a “weak link.” She took those verbal jabs, but one she couldn’t stand by and take was when he said she was a “gobby, self-confident creature” who had “been turned into a mutant.” What’s a girl to do? Dump a glass of wine on his head!

Dancing with the Stars: Hope Solo vs. Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The top reality show fights shined its spotlight on Dancing with the Stars with a battle royale that reportedly involved a pro—Maksim Chmerkovskiy—and his celebrity dancer—Hope Solo.

This installment of the top reality show fights is a bit of a he said/she said. Those who watched the hit show knew all too well about the icy chemistry between Dancing with the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy and celebrity contestant Hope Solo. ABC aired the friction during their rehearsals for the world to see. What went on when the cameras left was documented in Solo’s book. She claimed he “manhandled” her and even slapped her on occasion. Now, to be fair, many on the USA Soccer Team have reported that Solo was a combative teammate, so Chmerkovskiy may have had his hands full from the get go. He responded to her book allegations by simply calling her a “s--ty person.”

The Hills: Audrina Patridge vs. Kristin Cavallari.

Some have said that the closest that The Hills women ever came to an all out physical fight was when producers brought Kristin Cavallari back to the nest. The move paid off in magnificent drama. To promote the return the show even advertised it as “The bitch is back!” With that promise they had to back it up. Without wasting any time Cavallari arrived on the scene at Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt’s party. Cavallari made a bee-line for the ex-boyfriend of Audrina Patridge, Justin Bobby. Patridge did not take it too kindly and the pair got into a shouting match of the most epic of proportions.

The Real Housewives of New York City: Aviva Drescher vs. Heather Thomson.

When the legs come off the fight gets real. Wait, what? That is exactly what happened in a fight between Aviva Drescher and Heather Thomson on the smash hit The Real Housewives of New York City. Drescher and Thomson were getting in a shouting match over the accusation that Drescher was repeatedly lying to the group. When she had enough of Thomson’s accusations, Drescher took off her prosthetic leg and slammed it on the table elevating the fight to a new level as she uttered, “The only thing artificial or fake about me is this!” How serious was she about taking this verbal spat to new heights? She threw the leg at Thomson and shouted, “I’ll crawl home!” Game. Set. Match.

We all know Cardi B from her hit music career, but lest we forget her beginnings were on Love and Hip Hop. Most notably from when she battled Asia Davies! Davis had sent Cardi B’s boyfriend at the time, Swift, some disparaging text messages about her that did not sit so well with the future hip hop star. The confrontation came to a head when Cardi B threw her red stiletto at Asia then security stepped in. If you recall, Cardi B has a history of throwing shoes. Remember when she threw a shoe at Nicki Minaj? Hey, if your weapon of choice works, keep using it.

On Surreal Life the constant reality TV villain, Omarosa, had enough of her costar Janice Dickinson. The show wasn’t even shooting! This reality show fight took place during a photo shoot! It all started when Omarosa took a kitchen knife and placed it behind Dickinson’s head. When Dickinson saw the knife she lost it … as one is expected to do when sharp objects are near one’s head. The fight went from zero to 60 in a snap as Dickinson uttered, “I’ll yank your weave off, honey!” Omarosa replied in kind when she said, “I’ll yank your weave off.”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Teresa Giudice vs. Danielle Staub.

On Season One of The Real Housewives of New Jersey viewers got an early glimpse into why this was must watch TV. The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kenya Moore vs. Porsha Williams.

The season 6 reunion special was supposed to be an Andy Cohen moderated visit with The Real Housewives of Altanta so they could go over the events of the season for fans at home and to get the stars’ insight on those matters. But when Kenya Moore accused Porsha Williams of cheating with her ex, former NFL star Kordell Stewart, the claws came out and the reunion special turned into a battle royale!

Williams grabbed Moore’s hair and literally dragged her across the floor. Cohen tried to intervene by yelling, “No! No! No! Stop! Stop!” He was successful as the two were separated. Unsuccessful was Williams as she was arrested and then charged for misdemeanor battery. Guess being called “a dumb ho” was Williams’ trigger phrase for losing it.

Jersey Shore: Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino vs. Ronnie Magro.

MORE ON:
The Real Housewives Of New York

Sorrentino wasn’t always the wise and centered soul he has been portrayed to be on the reunion show, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. During the original run of Jersey Shore, Sorrentino was the biggest provocateur of the gang. As such he frequently found himself in the crosshairs of someone’s fury. When the gang spent the entire season in Italy, The Situation was being, well, The Situation and Ronnie Magro had had enough. The fight was over before it started, as The Situation wound up banging his own head on the wall and giving himself a fight's over concussion. In the version that aired there was no brawl and a frustrated Sorrentino banged his hand against the wall. But there has since been a version that’s uncut showing that the housemates did brawl before Sorrentino’s headbutt to the wall complete with security trying their best to break up the fight.

Flavor of Love: New York vs. Pumpkin.

Flavor of Love was one of those reality TV dating shows where it's easy to wonder how it even got green-lit. But thankfully it did because if it didn’t we wouldn’t have the opportunity to enjoy a great reality show fight between New York and Pumpkin. It was their unique version of a fight … over Flavor Flav of Public Enemy. New York was certainly one of the show’s firecrackers, but she didn’t fully explode until Pumpkin got a little too much in her grill. So close, in fact, that she spit in New York’s mouth. That was not a good move. Warning: graphic language in this clip that finds two women fighting over Flavor Flav. Yes, Flavor Flav.

Jersey Shore: JWoww vs. The Situation.

The Situation is always one to spur things on. It’s just his personality and why fans adore him for being him. The Sitch was being The Sitch one night in the Jersey Shore house and JWoww had enough and socked him. Guess what happens in Atlantic City doesn’t stay there.

Jersey Shore: Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi vs. Angelina Pivarnick.

When Snooki decided she had had enough of Angelina Pivarnick the two came to blows (with a whole lot of hair pulling). Pivarnick had been saying that everyone in the house was “fake” and that she “can’t stand any of yous.” Snooki took exception to that and all 4-foot-whatever of her dove into the ring! Ding! Audiences knew it was going to get real the moment Snooki took off her earrings.

Jersey Shore: Snooki vs. Random Bar Dude.

One of the top fights was the punch heard around the world landing Jersey Shore on the reality TV map. It was early in the run of Jersey Shore as America and the world began their love affair with the original “meatball,” Snooki! The gang was out at a club and Snooki took it upon herself to speak to a random guy at the bar who had taken the gang’s shots. Snooki kept at the guy telling him the shots were not for him. He then punched her square in the face. Her Jersey Shore “family” promptly jumped in. The guy was kicked out of the bar and promptly arrested for assault.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Joe Gorga vs. Joe Giudice.

On The Real Housewives of New Jersey, some Italian emotion boiled over as Teresa Giudice’s brother, Joe Gorga, called her “scum.” Her husband, Joe Giudice, barged in thumping his chest and demanded that her brother apologize — which he definitely did not do! Joe Gorga barreled into his in-law with full force and it was on like Donkey Kong. The two brawled as if they were on WWE. It was among the most epic and heated reality show fights. Everyone in the room jumped in to try to separate the brothers-in-law. No one was seriously hurt, but there were a whole lot of red marks strewn across both Joes’ faces.

Jersey Shore: Ronnie Magro vs. Random Bar Dude.

It was the end of summer and therefore the Jersey Shore season. Perhaps the summer vacation should have ended a little earlier for Magro. A night out at the Shore had seen major tempers flare. Magro’s got the best of him and he got into a fight that ended with a random barfly on the ground, out cold. As for the Jersey Shore star, he ended up in a cop car. He was charged with aggravated assault and for “striking a man with a closed fist.” He paid $600 for bail and charges were dropped.
