The fat lady has sung for American Idol!

With ratings hitting rock bottom for its second season on ABC, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively the once high-flying singing competition series will be canceled!

“No official announcement has been made, but with viewers dropping from 7.2 million to just 6 million, the show is dead,” sources revealed.

A recent episode that saw contestants singing the songs of Disney was D.O.A., drawing just over 5 million viewers, an all-time series low on either ABC or Fox.

The original version of Idol aired on FOX from 2002 to 2016, but the new version struggled from the start. Its premiere episode aired opposite the wildly popular special O.J.: The Lost Confession, hurting ratings for the entire season, sources dished.

Idol has also been hurt by competition from NBC’s The Voice and The Four on FOX, insiders added.

“The producers and crew are already sending out their resumes,” snitched a source. “Even judge Katy Perry is ready to go back to focusing on her music career.”
