Days after a Florida woman went missing in Costa Rica during a birthday trip, local officials have discovered a body.

As RadarOnline.com has learned, Costa Rica police found a dead body wrapped in plastic and buried outside the Airbnb where Carla Stefaniak was staying.

Walter Espinoza, a government spokesman said in a press conference that they still cannot provide any details or confirm that the body belongs to 36-year-old Stefaniak.

According to the Miami Herald, investigators are awaiting the autopsy results, as the body they discovered is extremely decayed.

Espinoza added that inside the Airbnb, they also found traces of blood, which have been sent to a lab for testing.

RadarOnline.com readers know Stefaniak traveled to San José to celebrate her birthday with sister-in-law April Burton. On November 27, Burton flew back home, and that same night, Stefaniak went missing.

The woman was last heard from around 8:00 p.m. that night, when she texted Burton saying her Aribnb was “pretty sketchy” and the power had gone out because of the heavy rain. The next day, Stefaniak failed to show up for her flight home and hasn’t been heard from since.

The Airbnb owners, Uber driver and local security guards have all told authorities the same story: they saw Stefaniak leave the vacation home around 5:00 a.m. on November 28 with her luggage. The woman’s brother, however, does not buy the story, as he knows Stefaniak’s flight home was set to depart much later.
