My Work! Kelly Clarkson Claims Dr. Luke Took Credit For Writing Her Songs
Kelly Clarkson claims that Dr. Luke lied about writing some of her songs.
The explosive accusation comes from unsealed testimony the pop star gave in Kesha's fight with the producer.
The revelations come as the latest twist in Dr. Luke's messy legal battle with Kesha.
RadarOnline.com revealed that Katy Perry had fought to keep her deposition private for fear of reprisals.
Perry defended the producer claiming that he had never sexually assaulted her as Kesha had claimed.
And she revealed that she was 'pissed off' over texts between Lady Gaga and Kesha that embroiled her in the case.
Now, The Blast website has revealed that American Idol alum Clarkson alleges that Dr. Luke lied to music mogul Clive Davis about the origins of her work.
Clarkson gave a deposition in June 2017, describing a meeting with Davis and her working relationship with him and Dr. Luke.
She details, "I was told by my label executive, it was a really rough meeting, Clive Davis, where first of all, he told me I was a shitty writer and that I shouldn't — I should just shut up and listen to the producers. And then he said, and I said or he said something about hits. You should just take the hits and just sing them or something to that extent. And I said, well, I'm a writer on these. I mean, I wrote on 'Miss Independent.' I wrote on like 'Hazel Eyes.' I wrote 'Because Of You' myself. Like I wrote, like I'm like, and then he proceeded to say that I did not."
Clarkson reveals that Davis initially believed Dr. Luke's claims over the material.
Clarkson continued, "Well, he told me I was lying. That Dr. Luke told him that he had written 'Hazel Eyes.' And I was like, I'm pretty sure I went through a real shitty relationship."
She added, "So it's hurtful whenever you try so hard and you have been accomplished in a certain area. And then somebody just lies about their part in a song. And I said, well, we definitely did collaborate. But I can pull out the lyrics from a notebook piece of paper that I still have … I wasn't there when Dr. Luke apparently had a conversation with Clive … That really frankly pissed me off."
Kelly Clarkson revealed she felt like Luke was undermining her to Davis and trying to take credit for her efforts and undermined her struggles.
She added: "And for somebody that's trying to make it so hard in an industry like himself at the time because he had not had success before 'Since U Been Gone.' So you'd think that person would understand how important credit is."
The singer claims that Davis and the other executives did not take her seriously enough in meetings making her feel like she "was in the room and they were all just kind of catering and coddling the little girl for her record."
There was no love lost between Clarkson and Dr. Luke when they worked together in the studio either after she alleged he treated others cruelly.
