Jean-Claude Van Damme's Son Sentenced To 18 Months Probation After Holding Friend Hostage
The youngest son of actor Jean-Claude Van Damme was sentenced to 18 months probation after holding his college roommate at knifepoint and keeping him hostage inside their campus apartment, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Nicholas Van Varenberg, 22, appeared before Maricopa County Superior Court officials on Wednesday, October 3. He previously pled guilty to disorderly conduct.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Van Varenberg refused to let cops enter his Tempe, Arizona pad during a two-hour standoff that eventually led to his arrest.
RadarOnline.com obtained explosive footage of the incident that took place at the University Apartments on Sept. 10, 2017.
In police video obtained by RadarOnline.com, a trail of blood leads up to the elevator doors, where Van Varenberg punched a wall.
Cops demanded Van Varenberg open the door, but he refused. His roommate, identified as Alec, appeared terrified and attempted to calm Van Varenberg as he went off in a drug-fueled rage.
“These f**king pigs,” Van Varenberg can be heard saying on the video.
“Dude, they’re like, fine,” Alec replied. “They’re probably just worried about your hand, Nick.”
“You shut the f**k up,” Van Varenberg slurred. “Don’t ever trust f**king cops. They are not here to help you, they are here to hurt you.”
Van Varenberg told his friend that they had been smoking weed and threatened to hurt him if he tried opening the door to cops.
Alec accused Van Varenberg of pulling out a large knife from the kitchen and angling it toward him as he was standing four feet away.
Eventually, Van Varenberg opened the door for the cops and he was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, unlawful imprisonment and drug possession.
According to court records, police searched the apartment and found drug paraphernalia.
