Prosecutors Slam Bill Cosby's Demand For Judge To Step Down Before Sentencing
Prosecutors fought Bill Cosby's last-minute demand to have the judge step down before sentencing in his Pennsylvania sexual assault case, calling his request flawed and "meritless," RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.
“The claims are facially meritless and may be dismissed without a hearing,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele wrote in the court filing on Thursday, September 13.
The disgraced star, 81, "asserts claims that are neither new nor credible. They are, however, in line with other spurious and salacious claims he has made against a variety of parties in this case, all in an effort to avoid accountability and avert a long overdue day of reckoning," Steele continued.
"Time has come for the defendant to face the consequences of his crimes and misdeeds."
RadarOnline.com reported on September 11 that the convicted comic filed a motion in court asking Judge Steven O’Neill to step aside due to an alleged grudge against a witness.
Cosby’s retrial was rocked earlier this year after RadarOnline.com broke the accusations Judge O'Neill had a blowout fight with a key witness due to a close relationship he had with that witness’s employee.
Cosby’s camp is now hard at work preparing for the sentencing scheduled for September 24 and 25. He faces up to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting Temple University employee Andrea Constand in 2004.
