Colorado Dad Denied Request To Have Coroner Collect DNA From Wife & Kids’ Bodies

The Colorado father who was accused of brutally murdering his pregnant wife and two young daughters, was just denied his request to have a coroner collect DNA samples from the necks of his dead relatives.

As RadarOnline.com has learned, investigators have reason to believe that the three females were strangled to death by Christopher Watts, 33, inside their home, before being thrown into an oil field where the alleged killer worked.

While Watts reported his wife and kids’ “disappearance” last Monday, and spent days giving interviews and pretending he knew nothing about where they had gone, police and family said he confessed to the murders of Shannan Watts, 34, and Bella, 4, Celeste, 3, on Wednesday.

He was immediately arrested, but on Friday, Watts filed a motion asking that a coroner collect DNA from the necks of his dead family members. A judge, however, denied his request saying that the medical examiner’s office will do what they need to do before conducting the woman and girls’ autopsies.

As of now, prosecutors are debating whether or not to give Watts the death penalty—which has only been given to one criminal in Colorado since 1977. At a minimum, the killer father will receive life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of the murders.

Watts faces three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of evidence tampering. He will not be charged for the killing of his unborn child.
