14 Fans Injured At Backstreet Boys Concert After Tent Falls During Storm

A Backstreet Boys concert turned dangerous when 14 fans were injured while waiting outside on line.

Concertgoers were warned to evacuate an area of the WinStar Casino and Resort in Oklahoma due to 70-80 mile per hour winds and heavy rain. A tent was knocked over, injuring those who remained in the area.

"All patrons in the area were asked to move and to seek shelter from the storm," the venue released in a statement. "However, about 150 patrons who were standing in line for the Backstreet Boys concert did not heed staff’s warnings." Fourteen of the fans were hospitalized, several being taken out on stretchers.

The Backstreet Boys later released a statement on their Twitter, explaining how they chose to cancel the show.

"We never want to put our fans in harm's way and with tonight’s weather and the injuries from earlier, we have decided to cancel the show and will attempt to reschedule," the statement read. "The most important thing is for everyone to get home safely and we will see you all very soon!"

Band member Nick Carter tweeted, "Waiting and praying for our fans that were injured. If we can perform were ready to go. But safety is first."
