BREAKING NEWS: Mel Gibson’s DUI Expunged

Braveheart star Mel Gibson got a lucky break Tuesday.

A judge in Malibu granted a request by Gibson’s attorney and expunged his highly-publicized DUI arrest in July 2006 during which he ranted about Jews and made sexist remarks.

That means as far as the courts see it – Mel’s  DUI never happened.

As RadarOnline.com has previously reported, The Oscar-winning director/actor was arrested shortly after 2:36 AM on July 28th, 2006 on the Pacific Coast Highway  when a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff clocked him driving his 2006 Lexus at more than 85 mph.  A breath test indicated Gibson's blood-alcohol level was 0.12 percent.  In California, a driver is considered legally intoxicated at 0.08 percent.

Gibson's arrest sparked a national firestorm after reports surfaced that he had made anti-Semitic and sexist remarks to the deputy.  Gibson later issued two apologies through his publicist.

Gibson pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI and was given three years probation, which he has now completed.

Gibson was not in court for Tuesday’s hearing.
