Amanda Berry's sister Beth Serrano gave a brief statement outside the family's Cleveland home in an impromptu news conference Wednesday morning, asking the public to respect the family's privacy during this traumatic time.

"I want to thank the public and the media for their support," the diminutive Serrano told a throng of reporters and cameramen. "We are happy to have Amanda and her daughter home.

"We appreciate all you have done for use throughout the past ten years and thank you."

News outlets on the scene, including CNN, had prepared for Berry herself to emerge -- she was reportedly inside with her 6-year-old daughter -- but an FBI spokeswoman said her sister would be talking instead. No questions were fielded.
