Photos were released documenting a June 1 meeting between Santa Barbara shooter Elliot Rodger’s father Peter, and Richard Martinez, the father of late shooting victim Christopher Martinez, in the wake of Rodger's May 23 killing spree that saw him kill six people and injure 13 others.
"This was a private conversation between grieving fathers who've reached common ground,” Martinez, who has been outspoken about gun control in the wake of the massacre, told KEYT-TV of the emotional pow-wow with the shooter’s father, a second unit director on The Hunger Games films. "We plan to work together so other families such as ours will not suffer as ours have.”
Martinez said that his son’s death is a result “of craven, irresponsible politicians and the NRA.
“They talk about gun rights — what about Chris' right to live?” the grieving father asked. “When will this insanity stop? When will enough people say stop this madness? We should say to ourselves, not one more."
The photos of the meeting were released by advocate firm RALLY, an issue advocacy firm.
