Sigh. I think it's silly to be annoyed with Perez's taste in music. I just looked at the page- Chromeo, New Buffalo*, the American debut of the Robyn remix of that Snoop Dogg song everyone was obsessed with in January- even if the man is awful, his taste doesn't run to the generic or the Z-list. The pig has influence and the ability to turn people on to music that legitimate websites have been writing about for months and months. Hate him for taking away their deserved cred, not for his tastes.

David Hasselhoff, incidentally, is not actually big in Europe; he has a career in maybe two or three territories. Girls Aloud are legitimately huge in the UK.

*who wrote Feist's 1234, which is about as legitimate a success story as one can hope for nowadays

Perez is totally repugnant but his support of European pop music like Girls Aloud, who are decidedly not Z-list teen pop wannabes (srsly, US centric asshole worldview much?) is his one redeeming quality. Doesn't mean he's deserving, but at least he knows which pop tastemakers to parrot.

Seriously though about the Girls Aloud- fucking Google them please.
