As Scotland Yard reopens the Madeleine McCann case, they'll likely be poring over these crime scene photos once more, looking for missed clues. This first shot shows the living room of the McCann's vacation apartment in the Praia da Luz complex in Algarve, Portugal, where Madeleine vanished on May 3, 2007.
The family was due to leave the hotel the day after Maddie vanished.
This photo shows sites where Portuguese police took DNA samples to be sent for testing. The results lead police to believe Madeleine had died within the apartment, but those results were later disputed.
Madeleine's mother Kate McCann refused to answer questions about whether she drugged Madeleine the night she left her alone in this apartment.
The parents left Madeleine and her siblings alone in the apartment at night while they dined at a restaurant on site at the property with friends, checking on the sleeping children sporadically.
The McCann's rental car bore traces of Madeleine's DNA, according to Portuguese police. Subsequent reports deemed the sample inconclusive, however.
A neighbor claims she saw a man carrying a small child from the apartment on the night Madeleine vanished, but that tip lead to a dead end.
Forensic officers dusted the shutters on the apartment windows, hoping to find prints from an intruder.
This was the bed Madeleine was sleeping in the night she vanished without a trace, wearing pink and white Eeyore pajamas.
Her twin siblings, Sean and Amelie, were sleeping peacefully in the cot next to the bed -- the only witnesses to whatever took place that fateful night.
An arrest was made finally made in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in September 2013. A British suspect was taken into custody by the Greater Manchester Police regarding McCann's May, 2007 disappearance from a Portuguese resort. The arrest came after a British attorney told Scotland Yard he¹d met a man who claimed to have seen Madeleine alive just this past summer. ³A man was arrested in September on suspicion of possession of drugs and conspiracy to distribute indecent images of children. He has been bailed pending further inquiries. An investigation is ongoing into this matter and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time," a police spokesperson said.
In October 2013, Scotland Yard released two computer generated photos of a mystery man who is wanted for questioning in hopes that his picture will help identify who took Madeleine McCann from a Portuguese resort six years ago. The man is approximately 20-40 years old, Caucasian, and had short brown hair. His nationality is not known but witnesses have come forward to help and identify him. McCann's case has been reopened by the authorities who are working with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, and they said that new details have emerged. ³The timeline we have now established has given new significance to sightings and movements of people in and around Praia da Luz at the time of Madeleine¹s disappearance,² Det. Chief Inspector Andy Redwood said. "Our work to date has significantly changed the timeline and the accepted version of events that has been in the public domain to date."
