The vicious feud between Kyle, 46, and her sister Hilton, 56, was recently exposed on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills when Richards' husband wasn't invited to Nicky Hilton's wedding.

Why the tension? Years ago, Kyle's husband, Mauricio Umansky, 39, was an employee of Hilton's husband, Rick Hilton, 60, in the Beverly Hills real estate firm Hilton & Hyland. But it was his treatment there that caused the riff, an insider claimed.

"Mauricio wanted to be a partner in Hilton & Hyland but Rick would never make him one," the source told RadarOnline.com. "He just kept putting him off and putting him off. Mauricio finally quit Rick's company and started his own company, The Agency."

According to the source, "This destroyed the relationship with Rick but there was nothing else for Mauricio to do. He wanted to be a partner and Rick just wasn't doing it for him." The move was lucrative for Kyle's spouse. Umanksy was rated the #6 top-producing real estate agent in the United States by The Wall Street Journal and the website The Richest listed Umansky's net worth at $100 million.

As Umansky's business grew, so did the animosity between the families. "Kathy and Rick felt like Mauricio stole clients from Hilton & Hyland and was taking money from them," the source told RadarOnline.com. "They basically told Kyle they never wanted anything to do with him again."

This summer, the elaborate wedding of Nicky Hilton was the first event to air on the show that exposed the fractured family, but the source told RadarOnline.com it was just another time Umansky was snubbed. "Kyle tries so hard to stay neutral in the situation, even though it is her sister and brother-in-law versus her husband. She hates that they all don't get along," the source said.

So not only were Kyle's problems with her sister Kim Richards exposed on the show, her fight with Kathy was reality TV fodder as well. "Kyle's crazy relationship with her sisters has always been so upsetting but she will defend her own family to the death," the source insisted. "She is fiercely loyal to Mauricio but just tries to balance everything without turning family events into world war three."
