This morning, Hollywood was rocked by the news that Cathriona White, on-again-off-again girlfriend of actor Jim Carrey, had taken her own life. RadarOnline.com has reported that she was found dead in a Los Angeles area home after a drug overdose -- and that she had left a suicide note mentioning Carrey by name. White and Carrey walked hand in hand in NYC in May 2015.
White was a 28-year-old Irish woman who moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career as a makeup artist.
She and Carrey began dating three years ago, and have been off and on since then.
“Cathriona is ambitious and is working as a make-up artist in Hollywood – and she’s already worked on many film sets since arriving in the States. She’s very focused on making this work and will do anything she can to make sure she’s successful," a source told RadarOnline.com back in 2012.
"Dating Jim certainly can’t hurt her career. His status will certainly give her a leg up in the industry and open doors for her that could have been more difficult if she didn’t know him."
“She’s definitely living in a dream world right now,” the source surmised.
Carrey had previously been with actress Jenny McCarthy, but the pair split in 2010 after five years together.
White was found dead four days after splitting with Carrey.
She had been posting a series of sad and cryptic messages on her social media accounts leading up to her suicide.
Carrey made some cryptic posts of his own leading up to their breakup. He has since issued a statement expressing his sadness over White's death.
