With brunette tresses, pillowy lips, and a curvy figure, Ava Sabrina London has revelled in the spotlight long before she found herself at the center of Hank Baskett’s cheating scandal. But it took $50,000 and a whopping 18 plastic surgeries for her to achieve her Barbie doll looks — because London was born a man. Only RadarOnline.com has the exclusive photos of her transformation from male to female, and the details of how she made the difficult but empowering choice to change her body.
Ava Sabrina London, born “Paul,” is shown in 2009, pre-surgeries and while a fashion student at FIDM in San Francisco.
In 2011, London was on hormones. In this photo, she said, “I had my first two nose jobs, a feather lift and my chin shaved.”
In 2010, London was still attending fashion school and visited La Jolla, Calif., right before moving to Los Angeles. “I didn’t even think about surgery,” she said. “I always wanted to be born a girl, but I never thought about transitioning.”
In this photo, taken in 2009, it would still be a couple years before London transitioned to becoming a female. “My major was product development. I was stylish and into fashion and interior decorating,” said London. “I had fun taking photos for the art of it.”
By this time in 2011, London already had two nose jobs, a feather lift and her chin shaved down.
In 2009, London met a professional photographer before transitioning. “I never wore makeup at school,” London admitted. “Only in photos.”
This photo was taken in 2011 when London was on hormones, but still going back and forth about making a final decision. “It’s scary,” she said. "It happened so fast.”
“Before I moved to San Francisco in 2008, my mom found out that I was gay and as a boy I was trying to hide everything,” London confessed. “I developed my own style. I decided I wanted to move away. Modesto is a small town and I didn’t want to be there anymore. I started doing my own thing. But when I told my family I was transsexual, they said, ‘This is who you are.’ My whole family is totally accepting.”
Before London became a woman, in 2009, she already knew it would cost a fortune to make her dream come true. “Transitioning cost a lot of money, I probably spent $50,000 on surgeries, but I wanted someone to pay for it,” she admitted. “The guy that I was seeing paid for everything. He even bought me two cars – a Hummer H3 and a BMW 325i.”
“I found my style and I was going to do what I was going to do,” she said of the photo taken in 2008 before her transition started. “I have a very unique style and photographers wanted to take photos. It didn’t even cross my mind at that point I was going to become a woman.”
London visited L.A. in 2009 while she was in school. “Some of my friends wanted to take pictures of me. When I was a boy I tried to get signed, but I was trying to focus on school,” she said. “I just had moved to a big city and I was experimenting with partying, living on my own, juggling school and working. I ended up dropping out of school because it was too overwhelming.”
