They feasted on sushi at Asanebo, Clooney's favorite restaurant in Studio City, Calif.

Japanese food was probably a good low-calorie choice for their special meal. As RadarOnline.com reported, Alamuddin has put her man on a stricter diet.

The formerly fit leading man had packed on 15 pounds since his September wedding, according to experts.

"George realized he had to do something about it after Amal squeezed his waist and started patting his pudgy belly," revealed a pal. "She's even drawn up a diet plan for him – and she's told him that he needs to do more exercise and drink less."

Clooney does loves to knock back his drinks when he's out, but he seemed on his best behavior with his wife at his side.

The actor held Alamuddin's hand and put a protective arm around her waist.

Alamuddin is already fitting in with her husband's famous Hollywood friends, too.

She and Clooney recently joined pals Cindy Crawford and the supermodel's husband Rande Gerber for a vacation in Los Cabos, Mexico.

And the respected human rights lawyer also attended the Golden Globes with Clooney in January.

"George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year," the award show's host Tina Fey noted to the star-studded crowd. "Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an adviser to Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected for a three-person commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award."

But Alamuddin seems to take it all the joking in stride.

And while Clooney clearly respects Alamuddin, she's just as supportive of her husband. "I would just hope that, even at this very early stage in marriage, I am wise enough to know that it's up to my husband to choose which cause he wants to support or not," she said.
