Ever since LeAnn Rimes swiped Eddie Cibrian from under Brandi Glanville’s nose in 2009, these three have been at war. The hits – and the tweets – kept on coming in 2013. Irked by LeAnn cooing about stepsons Mason and Jake on Twitter, Mama Glanville said the country singer “doesn’t have boundaries when it comes to my children.”
Not content with feuding with one ex-wife, Charlie Sheen is also in a battle of wills with Wife No. 3. RadarOnline exclusively learned that he is set to kick Brooke Mueller out of the $4.8 million mansion he bought for her, because he has a potential new buyer. According to an insider the actor thought it was a “huge mistake to have bought the house.”
When Lady Gaga tried to end her long-running feud with the Osbournes by posing on the X Factor U.K. set with Sharon armed with a birthday cake for daughter Kelly, she may have had the best of intentions. But Kelly tweeted “#EatMySh*t #Hypocrisy” in response. The following day the Brit was apologetic, tweeting: “@ladygaga I acted like a child last night.”
The “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer urged Miley Cyrus to “stop allowing [herself] to be pimped out” by the music industry. The former child star then tweeted a photo mocking Sinead O’Connor and Amanda Bynes – both of whom have battled mental illness. She received FOUR more open letters from the Irish singer demanding an apology in response.
Apparently Kanye West can’t take a joke – something that Jimmy Kimmel learned after airing a parody of a widely mocked interview the rapper gave to the BBC. Kanye had a tantrum on Twitter and the comedian offered him an olive branch, allowing him to come on his show and tell the world what a “creative genius” he is.
You can chart the major milestones in Kim Kardashian’s life by taking a look at her feuds in 2013. She spent the first half of the year battling ex-hubby Kris Humphries who wanted an annulment after claiming their marriage was a sham designed to boost TV ratings. She won, he lost and their divorce was granted.
In August the new mom fired back at Katie Couric who criticized the reality TV family in an interview, questioning why they are so popular. Kim posted an Instagram photo of a gift and note the talk show host sent her and Kanye congratulating them on the birth of their daughter. She added the caption: “#HateFakeMediaFriends.”
In August Barack Obama took a pot shot at pop culture by saying that past generations “weren’t monitoring…what Kim Kardashian was wearing or where Kanye West was going on vacation” thinking that was “the mark of success.” Kris Jenner responded saying the President was “picking on” Kanye and her daughter – “the hardest-working young lady in the world.”
Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Kanye West waded into the argument telling New York radio station Hot 97: “The reason why Obama mentions our name is ‘cause we’re most relevant. He’s just saying that trying to be cool.”
Meanwhile, Kardashian brother Rob got into his own little spat with ex-girlfriend Rita Ora. In late 2012 the reality TV star accused the British singer of cheating on him. In 2013 she batted him away in an interview saying: “You should have to sit an exam before you go on Twitter to see if you’re mentally stable.”
The Kardashians rounded off the year with even Mama and Papa Jenner putting their dukes up. Their split quickly became acrimonious with Bruce being sidelined in the family’s annual Christmas card. Meanwhile his first wife is accusing Kris of being “out to get him” by spreading rumors that he is a cross-dresser.
These exes were in court again in 2013, battling for custody of their two children. After their five-year-old son nearly drowned in Usher’s swimming pool, his former wife – whose oldest son died in a jet-ski accident in 2012 – took him to court in a failed emergency custody bid. Tameka Raymond later told Good Morning America: “While accidents happen, never have my children been injured on my watch.”
While the world was heaping praise on Adele for her Grammy, Golden Globe and Oscar wins, Joan Rivers fat-shamed the singer whom she called a “chubby lady” who “should…lose weight.” No word yet from Adele but comedian Adam Hills leapt to her defense saying on his U.K. show The Last Leg: “If you make fat jokes about Adele, you’re being a d*ck.”
Alec Baldwin has had a vocal year, getting into spats left, right and center and firing off what appear to be – though he denies they are – homophobic comments. In between he found the time lock horns with Shia LaBeouf. The actor told David Letterman he got “fired” from the Broadway play Orphans because he was having “tensions” with the 30 Rock star.
“There’s a special place in hell” for women like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler apparently. Or so says Taylor Swift who wasn’t too happy when they poked fun at her at the Golden Globes, urging the serial dater to “stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son.” Both women said they were surprised the country crooner took offence.
Another funny woman who incurred the anger of Taylor Swift is Chelsea Handler. The late night talk show host mocked the singer during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, saying she thinks Taylor is a virgin who gets dumped by famous men because “she’s like, ‘I’m not gonna do it’.” The Red star – an insider told the Chicago Sun Times – was not amused.
It’s been a busy year for Miss Swift. When she wasn’t battling it out with comediennes she was making jibes at her ex Harry Styles. At the MTV VMAs in August a camera caught her seemingly mouth the words “shut the f**k up” while One Direction were on stage.
Ever wondered why Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard in the Iron Man movies? In November the Hustle & Flow star accused Robert Downey Jr. of edging him out of the franchise. He said in an interview: “It turns out…the person…I helped become Iron Man…took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out.”
It’s not clear if this is the final installment of the Chris Brown and Rihanna Show. But in a May interview with an Australian radio station he said they were over because he “can’t really be focused on wife-ing somebody that young.”
A fight with Frank Ocean in January has turned into a yearlong headache for Chris Brown. Eight months after blows were exchanged between the two camps outside a West Hollywood recording studio, Frank’s cousin Sha’keir Duarte sued the singer for assault and battery. Chris filed a countersuit, claiming Duarte instigated the fight and the whole legal saga is set to carry on into 2014.
When Olivia Wilde told Justin Bieber to put his “f**king shirt on” little did she know the ire she would incur with that one Tweet. The actress felt the full wrath of the singer’s fans who bombarded her with threats. She told CNN: “Someone’s going to throw acid in my face.”
It’s rare that a pop star can deliver a withering put down with such aplomb but Rihanna did just that when she fired back at Daily Mail columnist Liz Jones. The British journalist dubbed the Barbadian singer a “poisonous pop princess.” In an Instagram response, Rihanna called her critic “a sad sloppy menopausal mess.”
In 2013 Amanda Bynes public breakdown descended into Twitter rants that saw her take aim at everyone from Jay Z to Jenny McCarthy. She also targeted Rihanna, tweeting: “Chris Brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough.” RiRi responded: “Ya see what happens when they cancel Intervention?”
Hell hath no fury like a (Scientologist) woman scorned. After leaving – and publicly criticizing – the controversial church Leah Remini faced the wrath of Kirstie Alley. In an interview with Howard Stern the Cheers actress slammed her former friend saying: “When you decide to blanket statement that ‘Scientology is evil’ you are my enemy.”
Even A-list stars get into public spats. “GREEDY AND LAZY…A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE,” is the tweet that Sylvester Stallone wrote in a thinly veiled criticism of Bruce Willis. The former business partners allegedly butted heads about the amount the Red star would be paid for a cameo appearance in The Expendables 3.
Maybe the fact that Nicki Minaj cussed her out on national TV was the first clue, but Mariah Carey has admitted that she hated being a judge on American Idol alongside the fiery rapper. In an interview with Hot 97, Mariah said: “It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.”
R&B singer Keyshia Cole was not too impressed with Destiny’s Child brief reunion during Beyoncé’s Super Bowl performance. During the show she tweeted that Michelle Williams is “always f**king the groove up.” The women made up seven months later after Keyshia apologized and Michelle denied firing back an equally nasty response.
The road that led to Selma Blair’s dismissal from Anger Management is littered with “he saids” and “she saids.” Rumor had it that the actress was critical of her co-star’s work ethic. Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie fired her via a text in which he allegedly called her a “c**t.”
The former Mr. and Mrs. Sheen had apparently buried the hatchet. But in December Charlie tweeted: “The lie is over. I’m done being treated like a relative with a one-way ticket.” Denise Richards’ decision to exclude him from a Christmas holiday vacation set off their latest feud and has allegedly prompted his plans to reduce her monthly child support.
These former BFFs fell out spectacularly in 2013. Lady Gaga took to Twitter to accuse Perez Hilton of stalking her and sending a text message with a photo of Madonna pointing a gun at her. Meanwhile the celebrity blogger admitted he feared for his life after receiving online death threats from Gaga’s “Little Monsters.”
Hopefully “Love Can Build A Bridge” at the Judd family home this Christmas. Sisters Wynonna and Ashley have been keeping the Franklin, Tennessee police department busy after the actress discovered a GPS tracking device on her car. Ashley told police she suspected her sister was the culprit and Wynonna’s attorney admitted that a private investigator she had hired made the purchase.
These Brit boy bands are known for getting into catfights with each other and this year was no different. The boys entertained their fans by trading insults on social media. In one rant Louis Tomlinson from One Direction called The Wanted’s Tom Parker “the biggest tw*t on Twitter.”
“I’d like to thank my grams for encouraging me not to be a self-absorbed idiot.” That’s just the tail-end of Frances Bean Cobain’s Twitter rant against Kendall Jenner after the teen complained online: “[J]ust wish things could be easier.” Kurt Cobain’s daughter told the teen to “shh” reminding her: “There are kids on earth abandoned & homeless who forcibly drink contaminated water…”
Whether or not she was directly challenging Brandi Glanville is unclear. But Courtney Love defended her friend LeAnn Rimes who has been in an ongoing Twitter feud with her husband’s ex. In May Courtney Love tweeted: “Leanns [sic] my girl, u f**k with her you f**k with me!”
After being photographed grabbing her by the neck outside a London restaurant, Charles Saatchi divorced celebrity chef Nigella Lawson. But evidence presented in a case against two assistants accused of stealing from the former couple revealed the vicious extent of their split. He dubbed her “Highella” in an email while she admitted she took cocaine to cope with his alleged “acts of intimate terrorism.”
