Driving while talking: On March 7, 2012, cops pulled Amanda over in Los Angeles for chatting on her cell phone while driving. When the police officer began writing her up for a ticket, however, the starlet sped away. She later went on her to own to the police station to sign her ticket.
DUI: Amanda was charged with a misdemeanor DUI on April 6, 2012 after sideswiping a cop car in West Hollywood. She was busted at 3 a.m. after police determined she was unfit to be behind the wheel of her black BMW, sources said. The DUI charge is still pending but her lawyers are reportedly working on a plea deal.
Early Retirement?: In June 2010, Amanda shocked fans by announcing on Twitter that she was retiring from acting. “I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heart it here first…I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it.” The next month, however, Amanda announced she was just kidding -- and she “un-retired” from acting.
Hit and Run: Things got worse on April 10, 2012 for Amanda when she reportedly slammed into a car on the 101 freeway in Los Angeles, then fled the scene. She took to Twitter to deny the story.
Another Fender Bender: On May 5, 2012, the actress was pulled over by cops in Hollywood after she allegedly sideswiped a man’s car with her Range Rover. She wasn’t arrested, but police made a traffic report.
First Detention: Amanda’s downward spiral began in March 2010, when she left the Farrelly brothers’ movie, Hall Pass, under a cloud. On Twitter, the actress claimed she wasn’t doing the film because of a scheduling conflict but was she actually fired? The Daily Beast reported sources said that cast and crew had a hard time with Amanda because her behavior had been “paranoid and fearful” on the set.
Some Like It Mute: Bizarrely, Amanda liked to watch Marilyn Monroe movies on mute on TV in her Manhattan apartment, her former friend Ana Rivera revealed. Maybe that’s why Amanda has been spotted wearing a number of blonde wigs during her months of meltdowns?
Hair-Raising Problem: Amanda raised concern that she had done a Britney after she posted Twitter photos revealing she had shaved her head. "I buzzed half my head…I love it!" she wrote back in May. But recently, Amanda’s ex-pal Ana Rivera said the actress began wearing wild wigs because she had burned her scalp with bleach. “She said that her hair fell out as she had left the bleach on too long and it had burnt her hair off,” Rivera said in an interview.
Alleged Arsonist: On July 22, Amanda was detained by police and placed under a 5150 hold—a 72-hour hospitalization for mental evaluation-- because she allegedly lit a fire in a stranger’s driveway in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Witness Andrew Liverpool told reporters he pulled his car over after seeing a trail of fire and gas at the property. “It's dark, it's 8:45 and…I saw this girl laying right there with her left pant leg on fire. I look at her and I'm like, 'it's Amanda Bynes!' She was, like, really frantic like she wanted to get out of there." After the incident, a source told RadarOnline the troubled starlet’s worried parents “are now considering going to a judge and attempting to get a conservatorship of Amanda.”
No pants?! Before Amanda was found standing by the fire in Thousand Oaks, Calif. and then taken into custody on July 22, she went shopping in what looked like a tee-shirt and no pants at the ritzy Bloomingdale’s department store in Santa Monica, CA. The star appeared disheveled in paparazzi photos.
Raising A Ruckus With Retirees: Before allegedly starting a fire in Thousand Oaks, Calif., Amanda was reported to have bugged some elderly residents of a retirement community in the city on July 22. According to one report, management at the senior citizen community ordered Bynes to leave, believing she was intoxicated. Bynes attempted to return after telling a cab driver she didn’t have any money to pay him. Although cops were apparently called, Amanda wasn’t arrested for trespassing.
Red Light District: Ana Rivera, who says she’s a former friend of Amanda, recently came forward to reveal more of the disturbed star’s odd behavior. She told the New York Daily News that Amanda changed all her light bulbs in her New York apartment to red! Amanda even put red bulbs in her chandelier. “She said she liked the way it made her look,” Rivera recalled.
Another Hit and Run?: Amanda just kept getting implicated in car incidents! On August 6, 2012, L.A. police investigated reports she was involved in an accident where she rear-ended another car and took off without providing the other driver with her insurance information. Then on Sept. 4, 2012, she was charged with two misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run over the April and August accidents. Two days later, the California Department of Motor Vehicles revoked Amanda’s driver’s license.
Lights Out/License Revoked: On September 9, 2012, police pulled the All That star over yet again--for driving without her headlights on. And Amanda got her car impounded when she was caught driving with a suspended license on September 16. Five days later, the L.A. City Attorney’s Office charged her for the offense. In May 2013, Amanda pled no contest to driving with a suspended license and received three years probation.
It Weighs On Her Mind: Starting March 2013, Amanda unleashed a series of bizarre tweets concerning her weight. She wrote on March 1, “I’m on that 24 hour walking diet,” and on April 4, “I have an eating disorder so I have a hard time staying thin.” Later, on April 30, Amanda confided to her followers that she weighed 135 but “I need to be 100 lbs!”—while also sharing a revealing photo of herself standing in her bathroom wearing a black bra and leggings.
More Oversharing: The actress showed off her cleavage on Twitter in a tacky printed bustier top and black skirt with gold trim on March 26, 2013. Amanda told her followers, "Looking pudgy and I broke my nail."
Amanda’s Doppelganger: The What a Girl Wants star asserted that photos of her taken in New York on April 3, 2013 were NOT really her! "My hair is blonde, I've never been a redhead! ... Somebody keeps posing as me!" she wrote on Twitter. The problem was, the real Amanda had been spotted wearing identical sweatpants and slippers a day earlier
Not Ready For Her Close Up: This April 10, Amanda tweeted in a rage, saying she would sue In Touch, US Weekly, and Perez Hilton “for hiring paparazzi who follow me then take the worst photos with the worst angles.” She also wrote, “there is NO story, just an awful photo posted…they say I have erratic behavior when I do NOTHING wrong.”
Trash talking: In the midst of Amanda’s long meltdown, she has released a bizarre series of insulting Tweets about the appearance of other celebrities. The actress took to Twitter to write: Rihanna was attacked by Chris Brown because she is “not pretty enough”; Jay-Z has an ”ugly face”; Drake has “ugly gums, uneven teeth, ugly eyes”; Miley Cyrus is “ugly”; Zac Efron “has an ugly face”; Courtney Love is “the ugliest woman I’ve ever seen”; and to Jenny McCarthy, “ur ugly…u look 80 compared to me.”
Fixation On Drake: Amanda’s celebrity-related Tweets have often discussed rapper Drake, and she appears to have an erratic fixation on the star. Although she has called him ugly, on March 21, Amanda shocked followers by tweeting, “I want @drake to murder my vagina.” Earlier this year, she also apologized for needling her crush and wrote: “I’m sorry about the tweets I said about @drake I didn’t mean what I said. I hope to become friends with him instead of smashing him!”And just days before her firestarting incident, Amanda suddenly gushed on Twitter, “Drake is gorgeous.”
Nude Selfies: Amanda continued her tweeting misadventures by releasing topless photos of herself on May 1, 2013. She didn’t bare all, but close--hiding her chest with her arm in one picture, and with her long blonde hair in another. "Long hair don’t care," she wrote, not making any sense.
Now We Nose: The troubled former child star told her Twitter followers in May that she had had a nose job. While not saying when she had the surgery, Amanda complained, "In Touch[magazine] used a photo from years ago on their cover and I hate it! The reason I've asked all magazines and blogs to stop using old photos of me is I don't look like that anymore! I had a nose job to remove skin that was like a webbing in between my eyes. I wasn't going to tell anyone, but I look so much prettier in my new photos!”
Party Girl: Although Amanda has denied drug use, photos recently surfaced of the star partying up a storm inside her New York apartment. The pictures, published by In Touch magazine, showed Amanda and a friend holding a suspicious looking cigarette. And guests told In Touch they saw Bynes smoking marijuana on her bed. Amanda tweeted that the photos—although very clear—were not of her! “That's not my bed! Those aren't my toes! My toes are pedicured!" Amanda protested via Twitter on May 22, 2013. But she had a much bigger problem the very next day!
Bong’s Away!: On May 23, 2013, Amanda was involved in her most explosive incident (well, at least until the alleged arson) when she was arrested for allegedly throwing a bong out the window of her New York apartment. She was charged with reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, and marijuana possession. Amanda also was hauled into Roosevelt Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Sexual Harrassment Claim: In a disturbed rant on Twitter on May 25, Amanda denied doing drugs or throwing the bong out the window. She claimed the alleged bong was just a vase. And she charged police brutality. “I was sexually harassed by one of the cops…who then arrested me,” the 27-year-old wrote. “He slapped my vagina.”
New Career Plans: In a May 27 Twitter explosion where she once again proclaimed her innocence in the bong incident, Amanda revealed her improbable new career plans. “I’m getting in shape and getting a nose job! I’m looking forward to a long and wonderful career as a singer/rapper.”
Puppy As Human Shield: Amanda has fruitlessly tried to avoid the paparazzi by holding her little dog up to her face, as a photo taken this July 10 in New York showed. But the maneuver didn’t help, as paps got their pictures anyway—of the actress in her typically odd getup of long blonde wig, oversized black sunglasses, and baggy sweatpants, with a dog in front of her head.
Disorder In The Court!: Amanda wore a blue wig and was seen talking to herself as she headed to Manhattan Criminal Court this July 9 for a legal proceeding regarding her notorious May 23 bong arrest. Incredibly, the former Nickelodeon star looked like an unmade bed for her court appearance, wearing black sweatpants and basketball sneakers with an oversized tank top.
