He's a Vietnam combat vet who served as Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Reagan. His conversion to Democrat was in large part due to Republican mishandling of the Iraq war. During his race for the senate in 2006, Republicans tried to embarrass Webb with a passage from one of his novels, which depicts, well, a shirtless man sucking on his naked four year-old son's penis. But Webb quickly disarmed their cheap partisan grenade by explaining that this father-son fellatio stuff was hardly something to get worked up about, especially since he saw it happen with his own eyes one time when he was hanging out in Bangkok. Wait, what?
