Clinton's Funky All-Stars

As Hillary campaigns for the White House, Radar remembers the colorful characters from Bubba's administration

Whatever happened to Gennifer Flowers? Susan McDougal? The incomparable Hugh Rodham?! As America faces the looming possibility of a Billary White House in 2008, Radar reminisces about the unforgettable Rodham-Clinton brood, those colorful characters who entertained a nation for eight glorious, scandal-packed years.

HUGH RODHAM
Even in 1994, when Clinton approval was yet to encounter its biggest blows, Hillary's brother Hugh Rodham still couldn't capitalize on the Billary machine well enough to win the senate seat in Florida. His campaign was widely considered a quixotic joke, and having a sister in the White House didn't keep him from losing in a landslide. His syndicated radio show in the mid-90s was a bomb, followed by his failed Georgian hazelnut-exporting scheme in 1999 and the unpleasantness in 2001, when Rodham made what Hillary called a "terrible judgment call" by essentially selling presidential pardons for the bargain price of $400,000. Hugh later returned the money and all was forgiven. Today, Hugh is an enthusiastic spectator of his sister's presidential campaign. In October, he championed Hillary to the Sunny Isles Beach Democratic Club in Florida. Since the Democratic National Committee had delegates pledge not to campaign in Florida, Hugh assured, bittersweetly, "They don't pay me. They didn't send me here. Nothing."

ROGER CLINTON
Just the good half-brother to Bill, Roger Clinton Jr. was the subject of national finger wagging in the mid- to late-1990s, dining out on crumbs from the presidential dinner table to score roles on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and The Nanny. The former coke-using ex-con was pardoned by his brother in 2001, almost one month to the day before being arrested again for drunk driving and disturbing the peace after brawling with a bouncer. Roger pled guilty to lesser charges to avoid jail time, but the chance to have your permanent record wiped clean only comes once—or maybe twice—in a lifetime. In the early 2000s, Roger continued his slow but sort-of-steady climb to stardom. He appears alongside Vince Vaughn and Ludacris in this season's hottest is-it-for-grown-ups-or-is-it-for-kids holiday film, Fred Claus. Roger plays himself at a Brothers Anonymous meeting with Frank Stallone and Stephen Baldwin and, at press time, his IMDB STARMeter was on the rise.
