Awards season golden boy Eddie Redmayne is secretly living life as golden girl, as RadarOnline.com has learned that the British heartthrob is doing everything he can to experience life as a !

In between awards shows, Redmayne "is literally walking around in heels and wearing his wife’s clothing," a source close to the actor says.

The 33 year old, who recently snagged a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, is intent on learning the tricks of the trans trade because he was cast as the lead in an upcoming film called The Danish Girl, which is about the first transgender woman to have had gender reassignment surgery in the 1930s.

"Eddie is taking this project very, very seriously," the insider tells Radar.

In fact, the talented young actor recently spoke about the project and said, "Even though it is period and under completely different circumstances than today, I'm meeting many women from the trans community and hearing their experiences."

According to another production source, Redmayne, who longtime girlfriend Hannah Bagshawe, "Is going to amaze us, and this role will win him another round of awards."
