Pamela Anderson and husband Rick Salomon shocked onlookers at the Formula One Championship Grand Prix race in Austin, Texas, on November 1. But this time around, it wasn’t the actress’ bizarre behavior or scary skinny frame that were turning heads. Instead, the actress stunned with her newly healthy appearance — and only RadarOnline.com has the secret reason why she’s back on the straight and narrow.

“It was not Rick who straightened Pamela out this time around,” a close friend of Anderson’s tells RadarOnline.com exclusively. “It was the death of her dog Jo, who she adopted in 2007 shortly after the death of Star, her golden retriever that she had for nearly 17 years.”

It is no secret that Anderson is a huge animal rights activist and a big supporter of PETA, but what most people don’t know is that “Pamela considered Jo to be a part of her family,” the insider says.

On Sept. 25, Anderson took to her Facebook page and said: ''Our sweet Jo passed away today... He still feels close... even closer somehow… Relentless love - will never leave our hearts. He taught us so much.''

“Jo had health problems and when Pam watched him pass away it made her realize how short and fragile life is,” the family friend tells RadarOnline.com.

“After losing him, she began to change things in her own life because she wants to be there for her children,” the source says, referring to her two sons Brandon, 18, and Dylan, 17, with ex-husband Tommy Lee.

“Pamela doesn't ever want them to feel the way that she felt when she lost Jo,” the friend adds.

Do you think that Jo’s death had such a huge impact on Pamela Anderson that she will stay straightened out for good? Let us know in the comments below.
