L’Wren Scott, the renown designer best known for her high-profile relationship with music icon Mick Jagger, tragically hanged herself on Monday, RadarOnline.com has confirmed.

The 47-year-old Scott, a statuesque, 6'4 stunner, used a scarf tied to a door to end her life, inside a Manhattan high-rise condo.

"At this devastating time for Ms. Scott’s family and friends, we request that their privacy be respected," a spokesperson said.

"There will be no further public statement for the time-being."

There was no word early Monday if she'd left a note for authorities or loved ones. A tweet sent from her account earlier Monday read: "today #love #timwalkerphotography #lwrenloves."

The body is said to have been found by her assistant and although it's been claimed that police do not suspect foul play, the Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.

The Examiner arrived around 1.15 p.m. ET.

"Start Me Up" singer Jagger is currently on a tour of Australia; there was no telling if he would return to the states in light of the horrific news.

A spokesman for Jagger, 70, said the singer was 'completely shocked and devastated' following the news of her death.

Scott was known to have dressed Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Christina Hendricks and Penelope Cruz for various red carpet events.

L'Wren has previously spoken out about her hate for being referred to simply as Mick Jagger's girlfriend as she wanted to be recognised for her own talents, although she often used the rocker as her muse.

She said previously: "I'm a fashion designer. I don't want to be defined as someone's girlfriend.

"You always wonder if people will pay attention to the hard work that goes into what you do. And when you're taking something on your own, it's your company, your investment - your life."
