U.S.A.
The United States stands in fourth place with two gold medals (snowboarders Sage Kotsenburg & Jamie Anderson), one silver, and two bronzes. Canada remains atop the leader board with two gold medals, two silvers and one bronze.
Crash & Burn
There wave been plenty of wipe-outs as athletes negotiate with the wet, snowy conditions at breakneck speeds. The Czech Republic's Sarka Pancochova crashed bad during the women’s snowboard slope-style, cracking her helmet in the process. Slovenian Rok Perko wore a bloody mask after the downhill track was took much to handle, and Germany skier Severin Freund also wiped out on his skates.
Ready To Weir
Skating commentator Johnny Weir got tons of online buzz for his eccentric wardrobe choices, and the moxie he brought to the broadcast on play-by-play alongside fellow former competition Tara Lipinski. One specific aspect of Weir's personal viewers seemed to be attuned to were his large rings, which one Twitter user speculated was "the size of three Super Bowl rings," while another mentioned that while he applauded Weir's "flamboyance ... it's a tad excessive don't you think?"
Gay Controversy
While much of Russia's anti-gay laws have stirred up visitors from all around the globes during the Winter Games, don't count openly gay skier Daniela Iraschko-Stolz among that group. The Austrian ski jumper, who wed partner partner Isabel Stolz last year, said the time and venue were not right to focus on politics. "I am here as a sportswoman -- I always say I'm together with my woman now and don't have any problems, not in Russia or with the Austrian federation," Iraschko-Stolz told the AP. "Ten years ago it was different." She added that "no one cares" about protests during the fast-paced affair, and that she believes Russia "will go and make the right steps in the future and we should give them time."

Gold Medal Numbers
With 25.1 million viewers, NBC is presumably happy with the figures from its' flagship broadcast Saturday evening, gaining its' best numbers in four years, the time of the last Winter Games. Time will tell if the Peacock Network will be able to parlay the Olympic success into tangible gains in its' ongoing morning show war with ABC.
Boldy Going
Consider William Shatner to the Olympics what Jack Nicholson is to the L.A. Lakers. The Star Trek legend has shown his passion for the Olympics this go round by attending, and perhaps has the best working relationship with America's bobsledders after team member Nick Cunningham helped pry him from a restroom he'd been locked into. Shatner, who spent much of the weekend tweeting we-wishes to medal winners, told Cunningham on the device, "Please send my best wishes to your teammates," The TJ Hooker star tweeted to the athlete. "And no more broken doors! Make sure you save a piece of the door to show your kids."

Skater Ashley Wagner, of the United States, raised some eyebrows over the weekend when she pouted after a low score from the judges in response to her Pink Floyd-fueled routine, leaving her in fourth place. She said following the disappointing showing, "I know roughly when I skate a good program where the score should end up, so yeah. to score that low was very disappointing for me." Facebook reported that the 22-year-old's emotional display was one of the most talked about news bites of the weekend.
