Gosselin Teens Mady & Cara 'Not Messed Up,' Dish On Dad Jon's Old Dating Habits, Call Mom Kate 'Annoying'

Kate and Jon Gosselin's now-teenage daughters Mady and Cara are opening up about the misconceptions they face as members of one of reality TV's most famous families, and what it was like growing up during the tumultuous time their parents broke up -- and we've got all the details for you right here on RadarOnline.com.
"People expect us to be damaged," said Cara, who with her twin sister Mady, turned 13 Oct. 8.
Mady chimed in about the public's perception of their upbringing, as they've weathered the storm of their parents' very public split, and the ups and downs of fame, at a very young age.
"People think we're supposed to be messed up, like, 'Oooooh, the poor Gosselin kids, they're going to be scarred for life, waaaaah' … here's the big news: we're not messed up," she said in an interview with People magazine.
Kate said during the family's roughest time, her martial split with their father Jon, her oldest daughters "felt it" and would "react to it."
"Cara listening, Mady and I talking – it helped the three of us get through the ugliness. Things that happened with my divorce were hurtful, and there were many tears, but we got through it. They really are trying to work with me even now, when they have emotional moments."
Regarding Jon's serial dating during that frame, Mady said "the stuff I remember now is stuff that I didn't really see anything wrong with that the time … but now that I look back, I can see all without really wasn't a good thing.
"Like girlfriends, lots of girlfriends. Like, maybe it wasn't so normal to have someone new, like, every week."
Cara joked, "Every day, every minute, every second!"
Asked about their mom Kate, Cara said the 38-year-old mother-of-eight is sometimes "annoying on purpose … just to bother us."
Mady said Kate is prone to mangle names and words to her liking, such as the phrase, "expensive."
"Like, she says 'spensive. I'm like, 'Mom, it's expensive. 'Spensive isn't a word! Stop it!'" Mady said, to which Cara joked, "She totally does that just to annoy us."
Annoying or not, we can definitely say the 38-year-old reality star is a very proud mom of the girls, who tower over their six 9-year-old siblings.
"I wish they were a little more innocent in some ways but they're savvy, and they've learned things about the world and people's intentions that took me decades to learn," she told the magazine. "They're more aware of their surroundings and can size you up with a glance.
"They're nobody's fools."
