The man arrested for the killing of Blake Shelton’s friend, country singer Jerald Wayne Mills, is vowing to fight the murder charges RadarOnline.com has learned.

Chris Ferrell, a bar owner, has been charged in the shooting death of Shelton’s friend following a fight in the Nashville bar he owns, Pit and Barrel.

Ferrell claims it was self-defense when he shot Mills, who was reportedly smoking in Ferrell’s bar.

His attorney is asking for a bond reduction hearing on December 16 and Ferrell “plans to plead not guilty at that time,” according to the Tennessean.

As RadarOnline.com reported, Mills was in the audience for one of Shelton’s shows just hours before his 5 a.m. death.

The Voice coach was devastated at the news and vowed to do whatever he could to bring about justice for his friend.

Ferrell is being held on a $300,000 bond and is currently still in jail.
