Keith Richards Refuses To Apologize To ‘Me-Me-Me’ Mick Jagger After Writing About Him In Book

Keith Richards doesn’t regret doing heroin or writing some unflattering things about Mick Jagger in his biography – even though he pissed his frenemy off!
In a new interview with Men’s Journal, the legendary Rolling Stones rocker opens up about his strained relationship with the singer and how the two clashed after the publication of his tell-all book Life – and RadarOnline.com has the details.
Richards, who maintains the pair’s relationship is “Smooth. Even. Definitely workable,” currently, but that they don’t “seek each other out for fun or company,” reveals that their bond is similar to siblings.
“It’s like two very volatile brothers – when they clash, they really clash, but when it’s over, it’s over because we both know we need each other; we both enjoy working with each other. Ninety percent of the time it’s as cool as can be, then, of course, the people only get to hear about the 10. And the 10 are pretty fierce.”
On of those more volatile times between them occurred after Life was published, which Richards insists that Jagger didn’t read from cover to cover and only skimmed over the bad parts.
“He was intentionally annoyed,” he explains about Jagger’s reaction.
“But at the same time, I had sent him the proofs. There’s nothing in it that ain’t true. There might have been a few things in there that he didn’t know about…but I said, ‘Mick – you got the book, went straight to the index, and shot to M…You went straight there, and you read that chapter, and you formed your whole opinion, and that was that. You didn’t read the rest of the other great stuff in there. Because I know you, Mick, and you’re a ‘me-me-me’’

“And he is! There’s no getting away from it. It took him a while to come around, you know – demanding apologies and all of this crap. I’d say, ‘Ehhh, I’m sorry if I upset you,’ you know?”
“No, no way!” he exclaims when asked if he was sorry for anything he wrote in the book. “If I withdrew one sentence, I would withdraw the whole book. At the same time, it didn’t surprise me it upset him – but you know, who else is going to say it?”
